In 1887 there was a vote on which town should be the county seat. The towns in the running were Goodland, Sherman Center, Eustis and Voltaire. A first vote determined that Goodland would be county seat, but after debate and accusations that the election was decided before a vote could take place

Sherman County has had many men and women serve in the military. Veterans in Sherman County range from the Civil War to Iraq and Afghanistan. In the earlier years men formed veteran groups and women form auxiliary groups. In town we have the V.F.W. and a memorial at the cemetery. (more&helli
