ORDINANCE NO. 1593
AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO COURT COSTS IN THE MUNICIPAL COURT OF THE CITYOF GOODLAND, KANSAS, AMENDING AND REPEALING SECTION 10-104 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND.
BE ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Charter Ordinance No. 12 of the City of Goodland, Kansas, court costs in the municipal court of the city of Goodland, Kansas are hereby established and shall be assessed at the rate of $60.00 per case in said court; provided that, not more that one court cost shall be assessed per incident, no matter the number of charged violations arising from said incident.
SECTION 2. All court costs collected by the municipal court or the clerk of the court shall be paid as follows:
- During the period commencing July 1, 1994 and ending June 30, 1996, $1.00 to the local law enforcement training reimbursement fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5620 and amendments thereto, $4.00 to the law enforcement training center fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5619 and amendments thereto, $0.50 to the protection from abuse fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-7325 and amendments thereto and $0.50 to the crime victims assistance fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-7334 and amendments thereto.
- During the period commencing July 1, 1996 and ending June 30, 1997, $1.00 to the local law enforcement training reimbursement fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5620 and amendments thereto, $4.00 to the law enforcement training center fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5619 and amendments thereto.
- On or after July 1, 1997 and ending June 30, 1999, $1.00 to the local law enforcement training reimbursement fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5620 and amendments thereto, $2.00 to the law enforcement training center fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5619 and amendments thereto, $2.00 to the juvenile detention facilities established pursuant to K.S.A. 79-4803 and amendments thereto to be expanded for the operation cost of facilities for the detention of juveniles.
- Fifty cents as judicial branch education fees to the State of Kansas pursuant to K.S.A. 12-4114, 12-4115, and 12-4116 as amended and Kansas Supreme Court 91SC1 and 1992 HB2832E
- On or after July 1, 1999 and ending June 30, 2006, $1.00 to the trauma fund established by Section 8 of K.S.A. 12-4117 as amended and found in the 1999 Supplement to the Kansas Statutes Annotated. This section applies only when the defendant paying said court costs is adjudged guilty of a moving violation under section K.S.A. 8-2118.
- On or after July 1, 2006, $1.00 to the local law enforcement training reimbursement fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5620 and amendments thereto, $11.50 to the law enforcement training center fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5619 and amendments thereto, $2.50 to the Kansas commission on peace officer’s standards and training fund established by K.S.A. 74-5619 and amendments thereto, $2.00 to the juvenile detention facilities fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 79-4803 and amendments thereto to be expended for the operational costs of facilities for the detention of juveniles, $0.50 to the protection from abuse fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-7325 and amendments thereto, $0.50 to the crime victims assistance fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 74-7334 and amendments thereto, and $1.00 to the trauma fund established pursuant to K.S.A. 2005 Supp. 75-5670 and amendments thereto.
SECTION 3. All monies remaining in the hands of the Municipal Court or the Clerk of the Court after the payments as set out in Section 2 shall be paid to into the General Fund of the City.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance amends Ordinance 1592, previously passed by the Governing body of the City of Goodland, Kansas, on the 19th day of May, 2008. Section 10-104 of the Code of the City of Goodland is hereby amended and repealed
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication in the official newspaper of the City of Goodland, Kansas.

Effective July 1, 2008, virtually all docket fees have been increased by $9.00 by the State of Kansas. The purpose of this is to fund a judicial branch non-judicial salary adjustment fund for State of Kansas court personnel. See HB2968
