FORMAL ACTIONS
- Resolution 2026-14: Revising the Public Hearing Date Regarding the Governing Body’s Intent to Levy a Property Tax Exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate – Jason stated,at our previous meeting the commission approved the RNR and Budget hearing for August 17, 2026. However, Kansas Statute requires hearings be held from August 20, 2026 through September 20, 2026. The only available date is our meeting on September 8, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Kent stated, statute requires this for the RNR. Original date set for hearing was August 17th. This resolution sets hearing for September 8th at your regular commission meeting. Jason stated, the date is later than we planned but if people have questions, we would ask you bring them to that meeting. This provides us more time to work on the budget. Kent stated, this is the maximum amount allowed for our budget to submit information to County Clerk for RNR notices to the public. City can decrease the amount, but cannot increase from published rate. Jason stated, we invite the public to come back and speak on September 8th at our regular commission meeting. ON A MOTION by Commissioner Redlin to approve Resolution 2026-14 Revising the Public Hearing Date Regarding the Governing Body’s Intent to Levy a Property Tax Exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate with a proposed Mill Levy Rate of 55.740 and revising the RNR and Budget Hearing Notice to September 8, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. seconded by Vice-Mayor Howard. MOTION carried on a VOTE of 5-0.
