RESOLUTION NO. 1618

A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR AND AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS AT THE SOUTHWEST QUADRANT AND THE NORTHEAST QUADRANT OF THE INTERSECTION OF 11TH STREET AND MAIN STREET IN THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS.

            WHEREAS, the City of Goodland previously had stoplights installed at 11th Street and Main Street in the City of Goodland, Kansas; and

WHEREAS, the City of Goodland had requested the Kansas Department of Transportation authorize a Traffic Engineering Assistance Program (TEAP) Study for 11th Street and Main Street; and

WHEREAS, the TEAP study was prepared by BG Consultants and had a base recommendation for the existing traffic signal control should be removed in accordance with the procedures outlined in Section 4B.02 of the MUTCD and a Two-Way STOP Control should be implemented with 11th Street  being the STOP controlled approaches at Main Street; and  

 WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted to the Governing Body of the City of Goodland, Kansas, by Section 59 of the Standard Traffic Ordinance for Kansas Cities, 2023 Edition adopted by Ordinance No. 1764  dated August 7, 2023, and published in the official City newspaper, adopted by Section 16-101 of the Code of the City of Goodland, Kansas, 2023 edition, the Governing Body of said City deems it necessary to place a stop sign at the southwest quadrant and the northeast quadrant of the intersection of 11th Street and Main Street in the City of Goodland, Kansas.

            THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS:

Section 1.  That a stop sign is authorized for placement at the following locations:

At the Southwest Quadrant of the Intersection of 11th Street and Main Street; and

At the Northeast Quadrant of the Intersection of 11th Street and Main Street.

Section 2.  This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after its adoption.

            Adopted by the Governing Body and approved by the Mayor this 20th day of November, 2023.
