The High Plains Museum is celebrating cultural exploration through the exhibit “Connecting Lives Sharing Culture: 100 Years of AFS” now on display through January 11, 2014. The AFS Club is an international student exchange program which fosters cultural exchange and understanding. Goodland’s chapter began in 1968 and through the guidance of its founding members, Mary Porterfield and Sharon Smith, the club has flourished with over 90 exchange students from over 40 countries hosted by local families and fourteen students sent abroad to study in countries like Yugoslavia and Germany.
This Saturday, November 16th, at 10:00 AM MT at the High Plains Museum, the international exploration continues with presentations from Goodland’s newest exchange students and one former exchange student. Paulina from Germany, Tove from Sweden, and Cristina from Italy will be sharing their cross-cultural stories. This presentation is sponsored by the Goodland AFS Club. Join us for this free exchange of culture and view the exhibit that was 100 years in the making.
