A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 2022 COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION STUDY EXECUTIVE REPORT FROM MCGRATH HUMAN SERVICES GROUP FOR THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS

WHEREAS,   The City of Goodland, Kansas, sought proposals from qualified Consultant/Firms to conduct a compensation study in 2021; and

WHEREAS,   McGrath Human Services Group was selected by the City Commission in September 2021 to complete the compensation study; and

WHEREAS,    the purpose of this study was to:

  • Review the salary grades to quantitatively evaluate and determine market competitiveness of each position using a methodology that will construct a relative ranking of position and to produce or update the classification and compensation plan, including pay and structure.
  • Review the current system and identify any problems with the current system.
  • Make recommendations on keeping the plan current, equitable and up to date; and

WHEREAS,    McGrath Human Services Group completed a classification and compensation study that was presented at a City Commission work session on May 16, 2022; and

WHEREAS,    the City of Goodland , in order to be competitive for retention of existing personnel and have successful recruitment efforts to replace future turnover, there is a need to be highly competitive with the targeted comparable to allow Goodland to be an employer of choice; and

WHEREAS,   with the updated Salary Schedules, the City now has a competitive Compensation System for recruitment and retention purposes. A comprehensive summary of recommended compensation guidelines have been provided to the City.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS:

SECTION 1. That the City of Goodland hereby adopts the 2022 Compensation and Classification Study Executive Report from McGrath Human Services Group for the City of Goodland and directs the City Manager and city staff to implement the recommendations and guidelines from the report. 

PASSED AND ADOPED this 6th day of June, 2022 by the Governing Body of the City of Goodland, Kansas.
