ORDINANCE NO. 1748

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REWRITING SECTION 4-211 OF THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS.

                WHEREAS, the City of Goodland established Sec. 4-211. – Examinations;  in the Building Code and it states as follows:

Standard examinations, for determination of competency as a general contractor, building contractor, residential contractor, demolition contractor, paving commercial-asphalt contractor, concrete placing and forming contractor, masonry/concrete contractor, roofing limited contractor, roofing unlimited contractor shall be one of the following:

(a)  Contractor exam prepared, proctored and scored by the City of Goodland prior to January 1, 1997.

(b)  Standard exams published and available from Experior Assessments LLC, 2100 NW 53rd Avenue, Gainesville, Florida 32653-2149.

(c)  Any examination recognized by the State of Kansas as specified in K.S.A. 12-1556 et seq.

These examinations are hereby designated as the standard examinations for determining the qualifications of persons seeking licensure as general contractor, building contractor, residential contractor, demolition contractor, paving commercial-asphalt contractor, concrete placing and forming contractor, masonry/concrete contractor, roofing limited contractor, roofing unlimited contractor. The minimum passing score shall be 75 percent for each of the examinations listed herein.  (Ord. No. 1419, § 15, 8-2-99)

                WHEREAS, the Governing Body finds it is in the best interest of the City to repeal Line A of Section 4-211 and revert to only parts B and C of the code. It shall be noted that the older contractors would be grandfathered into this because of the time and work ethic they’ve put in over the years.

            NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS:  

Section 1. Section 4-211 is hereby rewritten to show the amended ordinance as;

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in force and take effect after its publication in the Goodland Star News.
