ORDINANCE NO. 1691

 

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REPLACING ORDINANCE NUMBER 1662, PROHIBITING J-TURNS ON DESIGNATED CITY STREETS, PROVIDING PENALTIES AND ESTABLISHING SECTION 16 OF CHAPTER 218 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS.

 

            BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND, KANSAS THAT CHAPTER 16, SECTION 218 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF GOODLAND BE ESTABLISHED AS FOLLOWS:

 

SECTION 1. J-TURN PROHIBITED. It shall be unlawful for any person, while operating a vehicle on Main Street, between 13th and 14th Streets, 4th Street, between Walnut and Arcade Avenues, and 12th Street, between Colorado and Wyoming Avenues to make a J-turn. A J-turn is defined as either making a left-hand turn across an on-coming lane or lanes of traffic in order to park at or pull adjacent to the opposite curb from the original direction of travel or backing up from a parked position across an adjacent lane or lanes of traffic to proceed in a direction to the right of the original parked position.  

 

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in force and take effect after its publication in the official City newspaper.

 

PASSED AND APPROVED this 20th day of June, 2016, by the Governing Body of the City of Goodland, Kansas.
