Now Hiring: Patrol Sergeant (August ’23)
Do use your leadership abilities, but waiting for the opportunity that could take years? The Goodland Police Department is ready to give you that opportunity immediately. We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Patrol Sergeant to lead a team of patrol officers.
Goodland is a community of approximately 4,500 covering 4.371 sq. miles, approximately 17 miles from the Colorado border. We are a progressive law enforcement agency that employs nine (9) full-time sworn police officers including a canine officer, one (1) full-time civilian employee and two (2) part-time police officers. Patrol duties include enforcing federal, state and local laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. We provide a competitive city paid benefits package, base salary starting at $21.39 or DOE, a take home patrol car, full duty gear including boots (after one year), progressive training, and a family atmosphere. Applicants must:
- Be a U.S. Citizens that is at least 21 years of age at the time of hire
- Possess a High School diploma or GED.
- Have the ability to obtain a valid Kansas Driver’s License
- Have no felony convictions, diversions or expunged records
- No convictions for domestic battery
- Possess good moral character.
- Must be a certified officer in Kansas or a state where is eligible for reciprocity through Kansas
- Minimum of 4 years of experience preferred
Applicants will be required to pass a written test, physical agility test, and an oral interview board. Final candidates will be required to pass an extensive background investigation. A conditional job offer requires the applicant pass a psychological evaluation, physical and drug screen.
