Special Commission Meeting

September 1, 2021                                                                                                                          1:00 P.M.

Mayor John Garcia called the meeting to order with Vice-Mayor Jay Dee Brumbaugh, Commissioner Aaron Thompson, Commissioner J. J. Howard and Commissioner Gary Farris responding to roll call. 

Also present from the City was Cherise Tieben – Interim City Manager. 

Mayor Garcia led Pledge of Allegiance

EXECUTIVE SESSION

1. Executive Session KSA 75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters of nonelected personnel – Mayor Garcia made a motion at 1:00 p.m. to recess into executive session under authority of K.S.A.75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters for nonelected personnel not to exceed sixty-five minutes.   I request the Commission and candidate for City Manager be present.  Commissioner Howard seconded the motion.  MOTION carried by a VOTE of 5-0.  Meeting resumed at 2:05 p.m.  Mayor Garcia made a second motion at 2:07 p.m. to recess into executive session under authority of K.S.A.75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters for nonelected personnel not to exceed fifteen minutes.   I request the Commission and candidate for City Manager be present.  Commissioner Thompson seconded the motion.  MOTION carried by a VOTE of 5-0.  Meeting resumed at 2:22 p.m. 
2. Executive Session KSA 75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters of nonelected personnel – Mayor Garcia made a motion at 2:30 p.m. to recess into executive session under authority of K.S.A.75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters for nonelected personnel not to exceed sixty-five minutes.   I request the Commission and candidate for City Manager be present.  Commissioner Howard seconded the motion.  MOTION carried by a VOTE of 5-0.  Meeting resumed at 3:35 p.m. 
3. Executive Session KSA 75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters of nonelected personnel – Consensus of the Commission is this executive session is not necessary.

Special Commission Meeting recessed for a private event at 3:35 p.m.

Special Commission Meeting reconvened at 7:00 p.m.

• Executive Session KSA 75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters of nonelected personnel – Mayor Garcia made a motion at 7:00 p.m. to recess into executive session under authority of K.S.A.75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters for nonelected personnel not to exceed seventy-five minutes.   I request the Commission and candidate for City Manager be present.  Commissioner Farris seconded the motion.  MOTION carried by a VOTE of 5-0.  Meeting resumed at 8:15 p.m. 
• Executive Session KSA 75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters of nonelected personnel – Mayor Garcia made a motion at 8:17 p.m. to recess into executive session under authority of K.S.A.75-4319 (b) (1) for personnel matters for nonelected personnel not to exceed twenty minutes.   I request only the Commission be present.  Commissioner Thompson seconded the motion.  MOTION carried by a VOTE of 5-0.  Meeting resumed at 8:37 p.m. 

ADJOURNMENT WAS HAD ON A MOTION Vice-Mayor Brumbaugh seconded by Commissioner Howard.  Motion carried by unanimous VOTE, meeting Adjourned at 8:38 p.m.
